Robert attended Huntington High School; graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College, with an A.B. history; and received his MBA in finance, graduating with distinction, from New York University. He was inducted into the business school national honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma.
Robert started his business career as an associate and analyst at Citibank in their Corporate Finance Strategies & Analysis Group, focusing on private, large cap, unrated companies. He later became an equity analyst with Standard & Poor’s, initially covering regional banks and REITs, and ultimately worked as the lead analyst for the insurance industry as well as the automobile industry and consumer non-discretionary sectors. Also, he was the lead energy investment analyst at Federated Investors, Inc., responsible for helping to allocate $850 million in energy investments in nine mutual funds with varying mandates – from conservative and balanced portfolios to aggressive growth. In addition, Robert was a portfolio manager and investment advisor at Shufro, Rose & Co., LLC.
In late 2000, Robert founded North Shore Asset Management, an investment advisory firm which offers wealth and asset management advice and portfolio construction to high net worth individuals, professionals, small businesses as well as endowments and foundations. Robert is a member of the CFA Institute, New York Society of Security Analysts, as well as its Private Wealth Management and Investment Strategy sub-committees. He has contributed to stories and has been featured on CNBC, Bloomberg Radio, and the Dow Jones newswire; as well as articles in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, and Forbes, among others. For many years, he served on the Board of the Huntington Choral Society and currently chairs its Investment Committee.
In his free time, he sings baritone with the 100-strong Huntington Choral Society; enjoys growing vegetables in his organic garden, jogging, bike riding, swimming as well as playing tennis. He hopes one day to repeat his 4,000 mile bicycle trip across the United States and Canada. He remains active with his college clubs, especially as an alumni interviewer.
